The App Store

I won’t bore you fine folk too much with the intricacies of the App store, because it has been covered to such an extent ad nauseam. My main gripe is not pricing, update turnaround time, or even the little scheme some developers are using to push their apps to the top of an alphabetical list of apps by adding quotation marks or other punctuation to the front of the apps name (e.g. “Super…”.) I am pissed off by the number of absolute junk apps that have been flooded onto the market. I mean how many “Flashlight” apps do we really need. I can’t really code anything and I could slap together that in fifteen minutes and I would have the decency to not charge $.99 for it. Now price is never a good reason to knock someone’s hard work. If that is what they think is a good value for their app then they should charge that, but when that’s all there is, well someone needs to make something other than a “Flashlight”. Another popular app that has flooded the store is a “Tip Calculator” app. They all get the job done, but if your like me and don’t want to look at scraped ass when you use an app then the only good tip calculator app is Tipulator. It’s really is a fantastic looking app. My point is most of the apps on the store are copies of one another an look really bad. I would hold you $5 for that app you are looking at until you really sure that it is perfect for you, because there will be many, many more in the months to come.
