I have had a few hours to play with the new update to the iPhone OS X 2.0.1. As you know iPhone OS X 2.0 was released in mid July along with the App Store and Mobile Me. Turn back the clocks a year and the original iPhone came out with an incredibly stable and revolutionary Operating System. Well this years update to that OS (2.0) was less than perfect with all the crashing, freezing and rebooting you could shake a stick at. I think the main reason for this was Apple didn’t have time to test the latest release of the OS as thoroughly as they had hoped in order to release the OS in time for the iPhone 3G release.
Now that they have had time to release a bug fix (2.0.1) the OS seems as fast and stable as it did before the 2.0 update. Everything system wide is faster. Everything from typing, to switching between apps. This is what the OS should have been like before 2.0 was shipped but it is here now and we all survived with 2.0 so no harm done.
