Windows Mojave Experiment

By zappybox

The Windows Mojave Experiment is a nasty ad campaign by Microsoft where the participants of a  survey were asked what they thought of Windows Vista then they were shown Windows Mojave which is actually Windows Vista. Then after the participants finished raving about how great Windows Mojave was they were told that it was actually Windows Vista. Awe followed.

I think this ad campaign follows the Microsoft business model, which is to  sucker people into buying overpriced software, like it or not. If you buy a PC you get Windows “included” in the price of the machine like it or not. Just like a tax. This is criminal, but most people still insist on buying PC hardware from makers such as HP, Dell, Gateway, etc. Why because of the initial tag price. Why buy a $1000 Macintosh when you can buy a perfectly good PC for $500. Well, those numbers are the initial cost of ownership, then you have to take in account that the PC is going to need Anit-Virus software to keep it safe and a bunch of other crap to get it to the same level of functionality as the Mac. Making total cost of ownership around five times as much as a Mac. Oh, and the PC has a useful lifespan of about 2 years before it becomes ewaste. The Mac on the other hand has around 5 years of useful lifespan, does not need anti-virus protection and comes with the iLife suite of Apps for all of your basic multimedia needs.

I think this “Mojave Experiment” ad campaign will backfire in the long run. Even if it is a success, it’s probably too little too late. With Vista’s reputation as a turd, and the long rumored Windows 7 not due until at least 2010 but likely into 2012. So do yourself a favor and buy a Mac.

Yes, I’m a Pro Apple knee-jerk shill, and there is not one thing anyone can do about it.
